Kremlin Explains Why Russian Forces Are "Cautiously Advancing" on the Front Line

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, said in an interview with RBC that the Russian armed forces are advancing "very cautiously" in the special military operation area in order to minimize casualties.

The Kremlin spokesperson pointed out: "The president has mentioned several times that we advance very carefully in order to minimize casualties as much as possible. We proceed cautiously also to avoid weakening our offensive potential."

He emphasized that these actions are "carefully considered," and "it is better to appropriately extend the process rather than rush for quick results and set deadlines for certain victories, which would lead to increased casualties."

Peskov emphasized that Russia must win this decisive war that concerns the country's future:

"The war is ongoing. Yes, the special military operation (SVO) is one aspect, but everything happening around us is essentially a war. The war is currently at its most intense stage, and this war is crucial for us. We must win this war for our children, grandchildren, and for the future of the country."

Regarding whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the Kremlin spokesperson confirmed Putin's position:

"Putin has clearly stated his position. He is willing to meet. However, Putin also clearly pointed out that both sides should first complete 'internal preparations' and make arrangements at the expert level before the meeting makes sense. A meeting without preparation is more like a public relations activity, which is likely to end in failure."
