According to the Global Times, after Japanese Prime Minister Takahashi Sanae made a serious erroneous statement regarding Taiwan during her response in the House of Representatives of the Japanese Diet on November 7, the Japanese political circle has been debating how exactly she came up with her remarks suggesting that China's use of force against Taiwan would constitute a "life-or-death crisis situation" for Japan and implying Japan's military intervention.
According to the latest news from the Daily News, this statement was entirely the result of Takahashi Sanae disregarding relevant advice and forcefully expressing it herself.
The report said that in the materials prepared by the Cabinet Secretariat for Takahashi Sanae regarding the Taiwan issue, it clearly advised not to respond to questions about whether the Taiwan issue would constitute a "life-or-death crisis situation" for Japan, and only make a statement that "the peace in the Taiwan Strait is related to Japan and international stability."
The media also revealed that the response material prepared by the Cabinet Secretariat for Takahashi Sanae was disclosed by left-wing senator Tsuchimura Kiyomi, a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party. Tsuchimura Kiyomi also disclosed more details about this response material on her social media account.
However, Takahashi Sanae did not answer according to the recommendations of the secretariat, but instead made a statement on her own that later caused strong dissatisfaction and protest from China, directly linking Taiwan with Japan's "life-or-death crisis situation."
"It is clear that this response was Takahashi Sanae's personal opinion, not one drafted by officials," Tsuchimura Kiyomi wrote.

It is worth noting that the Japanese far-right figure and former Self-Defense Forces general Tanemoto Shun'ei, who has repeatedly denied Japan's wartime atrocities and recently attempted to whitewash Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, had in a post about Takahashi Sanae on October 3, 2024, stated that he did not want Ishikawa Shigehiro, who advocates for acknowledging Japan's war crimes, to be prime minister, but rather hoped that Takahashi Sanae would lead Japan.
