On her first day in office, Takahashi Asami faces two major challenges from the opposition parties!

Although the new prime minister has just taken office, the accumulated and numerous issues in the Japanese political situation need to be resolved urgently. Today, the leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its coalition, as well as the opposition parties' committee members for the House of Representatives, held discussions on the schedule of the special session of the Diet to be held on the 21st.

The opposition parties mainly raised two difficult issues with the LDP:

Firstly, the opposition parties have requested that, based on the agreement between the LDP and its coalition and the six opposition parties to abolish the temporary fuel tax rate, necessary laws must be passed next week to ensure that this is fully implemented by the end of the year, citing "the need to address high prices as an urgent issue."

Secondly, regarding the reduction of the number of legislators agreed upon between the LDP and the Japan Innovation Party, the six opposition parties believe this is not a matter that should be decided solely by the two parties, and they have requested that it be discussed at the election system consultation meeting where all factions participate.

Regarding these two issues, the LDP did not make a statement on the spot, deciding to take them back for further discussion and continue negotiations in the future.
