Han media: Accounting for nearly 60%, China's new energy vehicles continue to surge forward!
On February 7, the South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that in 2025, China's new energy vehicle sales reached 12.809 million units, an increase of 17.6% year-on-year. Notably, in December last year, the sales share of new energy vehicles reached 59.1%, close to 60%. On an annual basis, the sales share of new energy vehicles is expected to reach 54%.
According to preliminary statistical data released by the China Passenger Car Association, in 2025, China's new energy vehicle sales exceeded the combined annual sales of the United States (about 1.8 million units) and Europe (about 3.3 million units) by 2.5 times.
In December last year, China's new energy vehicle sales reached 1.337 million units, an increase of 2.6% year-on-year. Analysis shows that before the end of the electric vehicle purchase tax exemption policy at the end of last year, electric vehicle sales rose rapidly.
In 2025, China's passenger car exports reached 5.739 million units, an increase of 19.7% year-on-year. Among them, new energy vehicles accounted for as high as 46.4%. Although the export volume of global automobile brands such as Tesla, which have production bases in China, has increased, this also means that the global offensive of Chinese electric vehicles is further strengthening. The United States has slowed down its transition to electric vehicles due to policy changes after the election, while Europe has been struggling due to reduced subsidies. In contrast, China seems to be expanding its leading advantage by maintaining continuous price competitiveness and constantly launching new models.
Chery Automobile's exports exceeded 1 million units, followed closely by the MG brand under SAIC Group and BYD. Chinese companies are expanding their export footprint by strengthening their operations in third-party markets such as Mexico, South America, the Middle East, Russia, and Southeast Asia.
At the same time, according to confirmed sales statistics released by the China Passenger Car Association for January to November, the top 10 countries for China's auto exports were Mexico (92,112 units), Russia (61,881 units), the United Arab Emirates (53,114 units), and Brazil (29,231 units).
