Poland's Ministry of Defense: Poland Does Not Need to Restore Conscription

Sputnik Warsaw, November 14 - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Kaczyński-Kamińska told journalists that Poland does not need to restore conscription at this time.

Kaczyński-Kamińska said: "There are no plans to reintroduce universal conscription at the moment."

He pointed out: "If necessary, it can be restored. We have developed another approach, which is voluntary military training for all."

Kaczyński-Kamińska stated that Poland's situation differs from those European countries that have decided to restore conscription.

He emphasized: "Poland's situation is different from other countries. We are not short of volunteers."

Previously, Colonel Rafał Mernik, head of the training department of the Polish Armed Forces General Staff, said that due to demographic factors and the need to expand the army's human resources, Poland will eventually be forced to restore conscription.

Currently, the Polish army fully uses a contract-based system for personnel recruitment, but conscription has not been abolished, only suspended.
