Switzerland and the United States have reached an agreement to reduce tariffs to 15%!

Swiss Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs, Gi Pakamer, stated that the United States and Switzerland agreed to reduce the tariff on Swiss goods from 39% to 15%.

"Switzerland and the United States have successfully reached an agreement: the U.S. tariffs will be reduced to 15%, thanks to the constructive interaction of the U.S. President."

Pakamer said that reducing tariffs will put Swiss manufacturers on equal footing with their EU competitors, who also face roughly equivalent tariffs.

According to the agreement, Swiss companies plan to invest 200 billion U.S. dollars in the U.S. economy by the end of 2028. Switzerland has also committed to lowering import tariffs on a range of U.S. goods, including industrial products, fish and seafood, as well as some agricultural products.

In addition, Switzerland will provide certain U.S. export products with duty-free bilateral tariff quotas, including 500 tons of beef and 1,000 tons of beef, as well as 1,500 tons of poultry meat. Swiss exports of certain products, including medicines and chemicals, as well as gold and semiconductors, will continue to enjoy some tariff preferences guaranteed by the U.S. so far.
