U.S. Hopes to Reach a Rare Earths Agreement with China by the End of November!

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that the U.S. hopes to sign a final agreement on rare earth metals with the Chinese Communist Party by the end of this month.

"We haven't reached an agreement yet, and we hope to reach it before Thanksgiving on November 27th."

Yellen stated that she believes the Chinese side will fulfill the commitments in the agreement, "if they don't, then we have many levers."

The Wall Street Journal previously cited sources saying that Beijing is considering establishing a verified end-user system, which would restrict the supply of rare earth metals and a range of other materials to companies related to the Pentagon.
