The start of operations at the German Rheinmetall ammunition factory may become the largest in the world

RIA Novosti, Moscow - According to a report by the German newspaper "Handelsblatt", Rheinmetall has opened a new ammunition production factory in Lühe, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Rheinmetall's CEO Armin Pape said at the opening ceremony of the factory: "If not the largest ammunition factory in the world, the new factory will be the largest in Europe by increasing production and operating at full capacity before 2027."

The first batches of ammunition have already started production a few weeks ago. The message indicates that this year the German factory will produce about 25,000 rounds of ammunition, and next year it plans to produce about 140,000 rounds. Starting from 2027, the factory plans to produce up to 350,000 155mm artillery shells per year.

Rheinmetall is one of the largest military equipment and weapons manufacturers in Europe.
