Japan and the US to Discuss Setting a Minimum Price for Rare Earths

Japanese media reported on March 15 that during the upcoming summit between Japan and the US on the 19th, both sides are expected to discuss introducing a minimum price system for rare earths.

Several Japanese government officials said that during the meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and President Trump in Washington on the 19th, they are expected to reach an agreement: Japan and the US will cooperate to establish a common minimum price system for rare earths across countries.

To reduce reliance on cheap Chinese rare earths, Japan and the US will work with multiple parties, including the European Union (EU), to build a supply chain.

In addition, both sides will also discuss the joint development of rare earths near the Nakanoshima Islands.
