Trump's Post Again Provokes Italian Prime Minister Meloni
The conflict between Trump and Meloni has escalated anew over a provocative post. The former U.S. president posted an image on his own social platform, "Truth Social," showing Italian Prime Minister Meloni looking up at Trump, accompanied by the caption: "Need an injunction." This comes ahead of the NATO Turkey Summit, as political tensions intensify. Previously, Meloni had accused Trump of launching "unfounded and highly aggressive" attacks against her.
Italian Defense Minister Crosetto attempted to ease the situation, stating in an interview with Sky TV that he would not respond to the post and emphasizing the importance of maintaining ties with the United States, saying, "People come and go, but relationships endure." However, opposition figures reacted strongly—Action Party leader Carndda branded Trump a "cheap bully" and expressed full support for Meloni.
Meloni was once one of Trump’s most steadfast supporters in Europe, even attending his 2025 inauguration ceremony. But this year, the tide has turned. Amid diplomatic friction over the Iran issue, Meloni publicly criticized Trump for his disrespectful remarks toward the Pope in Rome. In retaliation, Trump not only questioned the Italian leader’s "courage" but also resurrected past grievances, claiming that during the G7 summit, Meloni had "begged desperately" for a photo with him.
