A new survey conducted by the Kettering Foundation and Gallup's "All of Democracy Project" among more than 20,000 adults shows that although about two-thirds of Americans agree that democracy is the best form of government, only 24% are satisfied with how American democracy is functioning, and 51% believe the U.S. democracy is "bad" or "very bad." The survey found that Americans are more skeptical of their political leaders, with over 40% of Americans not believing their leaders are committed to building a strong democracy, and about one-third expressing uncertainty. Additionally, only about a quarter of people believe that government decisions reflect the will of the majority or try to serve the best interests of citizens.
