Russian media: Kazakhstan and China sign cooperation agreements!

Peskov: Russia is not afraid of the mutual cooperation between China and Central Asia.

According to a report by TASS on June 18.

Reporters from TASS reported that during the first "Central Asia Energy-China" regional energy forum held in Astana, Kazakhstan and China signed several cooperation agreements.

The forum was organized within the framework of the Central Asia-China Summit.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, one of the key steps was to reach a framework agreement with POWERCHINA, aimed at achieving local production, establishing a research center, and launching a decarbonization fund.

The energy transition was the central theme of the forum. A memorandum of understanding was signed with Huawei regarding digitalization and cybersecurity in the energy industry, as well as another memorandum with China Southern Power Grid regarding the deployment of high-voltage direct current transmission lines and energy storage stations.

Special attention was paid to projects in the renewable energy sector. Therefore, a joint project with China Energy involves launching the "Sauran" solar power plant in the Turkestan region, while a memorandum with China National Petroleum Corporation stipulates the development of a carbonation plant potentially capable of processing natural gas.

Other key decisions at the forum included attracting funding for energy projects in Kazakhstan. The agreement with the Construction Bank of China will support innovative initiatives by QazaqGaz Group. Additionally, the agreement with Sinopec and Shanghai Jiao Tong University lays the foundation for technical cooperation in the field of hydrocarbon deep processing and hydrogen technology development.

On June 16, Peskov answered questions about whether the Russian Federation might be concerned about the warming relations in the region with China. Peskov replied to a question: "There is no reason to fear this."

A representative of the Kremlin said: "China is our privileged strategic partner. Of course, Central Asian countries are our natural, historical, and modern allies and partners."
