Foreign Media: China Successfully Conducts First Flight Test of Large Cargo Drone "Changying-8" (CY-8), developed by China North Industries Group (Norinco), touted as the "heaviest cargo drone in the world."
CY-8 has a length of 17 meters, a wingspan of 25 meters, an empty weight of 3.5 tons, a payload capacity of 3.5 tons, and a takeoff weight reaching 7 tons. It features an enclosed cargo hold with a volume of 18 cubic meters, allowing loading and unloading within just 15 minutes. The aircraft can take off and land within a short distance of 280 meters, adapting to diverse terrains such as high-altitude areas and islands, demonstrating strong dual-use potential for both military and civilian applications.
The maiden flight was conducted on the morning of March 31 at Zhengzhou Airport in Henan Province, China, lasting 30 minutes and successfully verifying the reliability of its flight control, avionics, power, and fuel systems.
