Media: The Pentagon Plans to Recruit Bankers from Wall Street to Form a Team Against China
Sputnik, Washington, March 12 - According to a report by the magazine Semafor citing U.S. Department of War documents, the department is seeking experienced bankers to form a team that will allocate $200 billion in defense projects, with the task of technological containment against China.
The report said: "The Pentagon is forming a new team of bankers with experience in the private investment sector, responsible for investing $200 billion in defense deals within three years to counter China's rise."
The Pentagon plans to recruit up to 30 financial experts from major U.S. banks, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan. Semafor noted that the work in the new team will be on a temporary secondment basis, lasting up to three years.
