According to TASS, on June 28 local time, the Minister of the Chechen Republic for National Policy, Foreign Relations, News and Information, Akhmed Dudayev, stated that Russian President Putin met with Adam Kadyrov, the 17-year-old son of Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of the Chechen Republic, in Moscow.

On the same day, Kadyrov said that Putin called him to express his congratulations on Adam's marriage.

On June 28 local time, Dudayev posted on social media that Putin met with Adam, the grandson of the first president of the Chechen Republic, Akhmed Kadyrov, and the secretary of the Chechen Security Council, in Moscow.

Dudayev revealed that the meeting took place in an informal setting, with a warm and sincere atmosphere. "Putin personally expressed his congratulations to Adam on his upcoming wedding. The Russian President wished him 'family happiness and further success in serving Chechnya and our great country.'"

Dudayev said that Adam will proudly continue his grandfather's legacy.

Kadyrov wrote on social media on June 28 local time that on that day, Putin called him to express his most enthusiastic congratulations on the "important event" of his son Adam's marriage.

In his post, Kadyrov quoted Putin's congratulations. Putin said, "I wish Adam and his wife, as well as your entire family, all the best—happiness, health, and safety." Putin also warned, "Don't bully this newlywed couple, or they will complain to me."

Kadyrov wrote, "What especially moved me was that despite the busy schedule of state affairs, Putin took the time to call personally and offer his congratulations. This moment is invaluable. I will always remember it in my heart."

According to Reuters, Kadyrov has led Chechnya since 2007. During the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he sent a large number of troops to support the Russian army.

A report by the Russian news website "gazeta.ru" on May 6 this year stated that Kadyrov told "Today Chechnya" that "I myself requested to be relieved of my duties. I hope my request will be supported."

However, he did not specify to whom he made this request. Regarding a possible successor, Kadyrov said that he believes the next leader of Chechnya will have their own views and put forward new initiatives for Chechnya's development.

Subsequently, he wrote on social media, "I cannot decide whether to continue as the leader of Chechnya. I can make a request or suggestion." He also pointed out that only Putin could make the decision.

On May 7, Putin and Kadyrov met in Moscow to discuss the progress of the Russian special military operation.

According to RIA Novosti and "gazeta.ru", Adam Kadyrov, the son of Kadyrov, will turn 18 this November and has held several positions in the Chechen security apparatus. In 2023, Adam gained fame after beating Juraev, who was accused of burning the Quran. Since then, he began to gradually rise in rank.

In November 2023, at the age of just 15, Adam received his first important position—head of the Chechen security department. In 2024, he became a director of the Russian Special Forces University named after Putin. In April 2025, Adam was appointed as the secretary of the Chechen Security Council.

Additionally, Adam has been awarded multiple medals, including the highest Chechen medal, the "Kadyrov Medal." He was also awarded the title of "Hero of Chechnya."

A report released by the U.S. think tank "Institute for the Study of War" in 2023 stated that Kadyrov's "low-key" promotion of his eldest son, Akhmed, contrasts with his praise and appointments of other children, including Adam. It seems that Kadyrov has effectively ruled out Akhmed and hopes that Adam will become the next leader of Chechnya.
