Trump: U.S. Auto Giants to Begin Producing Weapons, Including "Tomahawk" Missiles and "Patriot" Systems
U.S. President Trump announced that major American automobile companies will begin producing weapons, including "Tomahawk" cruise missiles and "Patriot" air defense systems.
Trump told reporters at the White House: "They (referring to auto companies) already have plans to retool their factories. We will produce weapons, including 'Patriot,' 'Tomahawk,' and various other equipment."
The U.S. leader stated that the government is launching a large-scale economic initiative for weapon production, so automakers with idle capacity are now signing missile production contracts.
Trump emphasized: "(Defense companies) are in contact with General Motors and Ford, but I know General Motors is very interested in producing weapons."
