Overseas media: China's State Administration for Market Regulation has released a draft of new regulations on e-commerce commission fees, aiming to make platform charges more fair and transparent.
The new rules require platforms to reduce the burden on merchants, especially supporting small and medium-sized businesses by allowing them to pay lower fees or waive certain commissions. During natural disasters or public health emergencies, platforms are required to reduce commissions and other fees.
In addition, the new regulations also require platforms to prominently display commission fees on the homepage, seek public opinions seven days in advance, and retain historical pricing records for three years for merchants to query.
The new regulations will affect major e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba, JD.com, Pinduoduo, Meituan, and Douyin.
