Experts from Russia: Future wars will start with attacks on critical infrastructure, including the use of artificial intelligence

Sputnik, Moscow, February 2 - According to Romanashkina, head of the group for information security issues at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, to Sputnik, attacks on critical infrastructure, including the use of artificial intelligence, will play an increasingly important role in future military conflicts.

Romanashkina said: "In today's world, the importance of attacking critical infrastructure is becoming more and more evident, which includes the use of the latest technological means, including artificial intelligence."

She explained that such confrontation may take the form of large-scale cyber and cyber-physical attacks on the political infrastructure of the enemy country, leading to the paralysis of its key components, making the country unable to operate normally and maintain a normal state.

She pointed out: "During this process, so-called soft power and smart power can also be used, through information and communication technologies. We all know many examples in history where countries collapsed due to so-called color revolutions, leading to regime change. In addition, the struggle for influence may also involve financial, organizational, technical, informational, ideological fields, where the element of artificial intelligence is being widely used. More notably, this struggle also includes intervention methods aimed at weakening the combat readiness and combat capabilities of the army."

According to Romanashkina, the main confrontation may have already started before the first shot was fired, as the threat of using military force and the latest technology could enable the aggressor country to achieve its goals.
