Foreign Media: Chinese Scientists Develop a Visual Sensor That Adapts Quickly to Light Changes

A team of Chinese scientists has successfully developed a new biomimetic visual sensor using semiconductor "quantum dots," which can adapt to extreme light changes much faster than the human eye. This sensor can quickly adapt from darkness to strong light in about 40 seconds, while the human eye needs 2 to 30 minutes.

The sensor can dynamically adjust its sensitivity, enhancing object recognition and imaging capabilities, and is expected to be applied in AI perception fields such as brain-like computing systems, autonomous driving, and bionic robots.

The study was published in the American Physical Society's "Applied Physics Letters" on July 1st.
