German Foreign Minister to Resume China Visit Cancelled in October
A spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry, Martin Geisler, announced that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will visit China on Sunday and hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday.
Geisler said at a press conference: "Foreign Minister Baerbock will visit China on Sunday. This visit is a continuation of high-level dialogue between Baerbock and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang. Previously, Wang visited Germany in July, and both sides held phone talks in May and October."
Baerbock plans to meet with China's Foreign Minister, China's Minister of Commerce, and the head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Monday.
Geisler added: "Of course, the talks will focus on economic ties between Europe and China. The two foreign ministers will focus on the security and reliability of key raw material and technology supply chains, such as those restricted by factors like export controls on rare earth elements, which have had negative impacts on German and European companies."
A spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry, Katrin Deuss, said in October that German Foreign Minister Baerbock had postponed her planned visit to China.
