Iranian Military: If the U.S. Launches a Ground Invasion, Tehran Has the Capability to Block the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait
It is claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran could open new fronts in the strait region, posing a threat to strategic maritime routes.
An Iranian military source told Tasnim News Agency, “We continuously monitor the enemy’s preparations and actions, keeping them under surveillance. Should the enemy attempt a ground operation on Iranian islands or any other part of our territory, or threaten Iran through naval activities in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, we will unexpectedly open additional fronts against them—making their actions not only unprofitable but also cost them exponentially more.”
The official noted that the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait is one of the world’s key strategic chokepoints, and Iran possesses both the political will and operational capability to pose a real threat in this region. Therefore, if the United States intends to act recklessly in the Strait of Hormuz, it should consider the potential for facing yet another serious challenge.
He concluded by saying: “Iran is fully prepared for escalation. If the enemy remains doubtful and fails to learn from past lessons, they can once again test this reality—just as happened previously in Asaluyeh and other incidents.”
