Foreign Media: France Says It Will Cooperate With China to Ease Tensions in Iran

On March 3, 2026, French Foreign Minister Barnier called China to discuss the situation in Iran. Both sides agreed to work together to ease the tensions, committed to seeking a political solution, with the goal of ensuring collective security and taking into account the demands of the Iranian people.

Barnier reiterated that the Iranian regime is responsible for the current escalating situation, as Iran "unprovokedly attacked several countries in the region," and has long refused to comply with United Nations Security Council resolutions on its nuclear program, ballistic missile activities, and support for non-state armed groups, and has also refused to participate in multilateral negotiations.

Barnier also emphasized that France did not participate in the military actions by the US and Israel against Iran, and was unaware of it beforehand. He called on all countries to prioritize resolving disputes through international institutions. Both countries agreed to maintain dialogue on this issue.

Additionally, the UAE stock market closed for two days due to a missile and drone attack by Iran, and will resume trading on March 4.
