Elon Musk Makes Another Bold Statement: Humans Can Migrate to Mars Before 2055!
American netizens don't believe it: Dreaming out loud.
On September 16, the U.S. "Space News" published an article.
Elon Musk said that humans can establish a self-sustaining settlement on Mars within the next 30 years.
"I think it's possible within 30 years,
provided that the carrying capacity during each Mars launch window increases exponentially, with each window occurring every two years."
Elon Musk made the speech via video at the All-In Summit on September 9th.
He emphasized that increasing cargo capacity is important because a Martian settlement will need a large amount of items, from living modules to assistant robots.
Moreover, to truly achieve self-sufficiency, Musk said, it also needs "all elements of civilization."
Musk has a special rocket to realize this dream of the red planet — SpaceX's Starship,
which is the most powerful launch vehicle ever built.
The vehicle is still under development.
So far, it has flown 10 times in full load configuration.
Musk said at the All-In Summit that the next Starship test flight will be the last launch of the current second version design of the vehicle.
"After that comes version 3, which is a major upgrade.
"There is still a lot of work to be done to make this ship fully reusable, such as the thermal shield,"
he added. "We are really studying the basic principles of physics."
Despite this, Musk is optimistic about SpaceX's ability to overcome these obstacles in time.
"I think, unless we encounter some very big setbacks,
SpaceX will demonstrate full reusability next year and be able to send more than 100 tons of cargo into useful orbit."
