Mongolian media: China expresses support for the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and the natural gas pipeline project passing through Mongolia

Montsame, Ulaanbaatar, January 12th. On January 9th, Mongolian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Z. Enkhbayar met with Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Shen Minjuan.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Z. Enkhbayar pointed out that cooperation between Mongolia and China in political, social, economic, educational and other fields is developing vigorously, and expressed that Mongolia highly values the achievements made by its neighboring country in economic development, and is willing to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. He emphasized that the government-level committee plays an important role in the bilateral relationship, so it is significant to organize its work in a practical and efficient manner.

He emphasized that trade, especially trade in the mining sector, will remain the main area of cooperation between the two sides, but supplying agricultural raw materials to the Chinese market has important political and social significance. He also mentioned that multiple directions, including the natural gas pipeline project crossing the territories of China, Mongolia, and Russia, have made substantial progress, and stated that Mongolia has formally submitted written recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan of China, and believes that many important contents related to Mongolia are included in it.

In addition, the construction plan of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor will provide important impetus for promoting regional logistics and trade. He also said that Mongolia highly values the progress of projects implemented with the support of China's preferential loan funds, and pointed out that there have been tangible results in multiple areas such as natural gas pipelines, railways, border port upgrades, and aviation space cooperation.

Ambassador Shen Minjuan stated that under the framework of the "15th Five-Year Plan", China will strive to achieve "high-quality development," especially focusing on innovation and green development. She pointed out that China is at the forefront of the world in the fields of artificial intelligence and green economy, and the two countries have broad cooperation space in these areas.

She also mentioned that last September, the heads of state of the three countries held a meeting and reached a consensus on accelerating the construction plan of the trilateral economic corridor and launching the project of supplying natural gas from Russia to China through Mongolia. China will continue to firmly support this plan and will actively promote the start of the natural gas pipeline project.

Both sides agreed that in the current context of increasingly tense global geopolitical situation, the three countries should strengthen cooperation, promote regional cooperation, and jointly safeguard the peace and stability of the region.
