Korean Media: Sank 16 Iranian Mine-laying Ships... Trump Takes Action to Defend Hormuz

¬ US Command Video Publicly Released... Trump: Completely Destroyed

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the US sank 16 Iranian vessels attempting to lay mines near the Strait of Hormuz.

On the 10th, CENTCOM posted on X: "On that day, the US military eliminated several Iranian naval vessels, including 16 mine-laying ships near the Strait of Hormuz." The command also released a video showing the US military targeting and attacking multiple ships sequentially.

Previously, CNN and CBS TV cited sources reporting that Iran was moving to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz. According to an anonymous official, Iran is using small vessels capable of carrying 2-3 mines to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz. CBS reported that Iran has about 2,000-6,000 mines, mostly produced domestically or purchased from China and Russia.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the open sea, with 20% of the world's crude oil passing through it. If Iran lays mines there, it would effectively block the strait. If such a blockade becomes reality, international oil prices and the entire global supply chain would immediately suffer severe damage.

In response, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, warning: "If Iran actually lays mines in the Strait of Hormuz, we hope the mines are cleared immediately," and "if mines are laid and not cleared immediately, Iran will face military consequences never seen before." He also stated: "The technology and missile power used by the US in combating drug trafficking organizations is permanently eliminating all vessels attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Such targets will be dealt with swiftly and mercilessly."

Later, Trump posted again: "I'm glad to hear reports that in the past few hours, we have attacked and completely destroyed 10 waiting mine-laying vessels and other ships," and "we will continue to take subsequent measures." Soon after Trump published the above content, the Central Command released the video of the sinking ships.
