After three years, Ukraine and Russia have started to talk again.

After a series of "chaos", according to TASS, the direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine delegations in Istanbul, Turkey finally began officially on the afternoon of the 16th local time.

This round of talks is the first direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine after three years since March 2022.

The Russian delegation arrived at the negotiation venue Dolmabahce Palace around 12:40 local time. The talks were launched after Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu delivered his welcome speech.

Previously, Turkish diplomatic sources revealed that a trilateral meeting involving Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine would be held at 12:30 local time (5:30 PM Beijing time) on the 16th.

Before the direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine began, the head of the Russian negotiation delegation, Melnikov, had a brief meeting with US representatives. Representatives from the US, Ukraine, and Turkey held talks beforehand.
