Mongolians News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, June 6 - The international bidding work for the Ulaanbaatar Metro Project is carried out in two stages. In the first stage, 27 companies from six countries have submitted tender materials, and the second stage of bidding is expected to be conducted among these 27 companies. Currently, preparatory work for negotiations with international organizations regarding funding issues is underway, and the work of jointly formulating the project's environmental and social impact assessment with international consulting firms has started, with an overall impact assessment soon to be completed.
The bidding work for the consulting company of the "Ulaanbaatar Metro" project is also carried out in two stages. The consortium composed of Dohwa Engineering Company from South Korea, "Korea National Railway", Soosung Engineering Company, and the Korea Railroad Public Corporation has won the bid. This consulting team provides professional method consultation for feasibility studies, basic research, design, and construction, and offers supervision and monitoring services to the project contractor. The consortium led by Dohwa Engineering Company updated the feasibility study report prepared by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2013, formulated the original design plan for the project, and it was approved in March this year.
It is expected that the "Ulaanbaatar Metro" project will have a total of 15 subway stations and 1 locomotive depot from Tovchaa to Amgalan direction, with a total line length of 19.4 kilometers, capable of transporting 17,200 passengers per hour. With the implementation of this project, the traffic intensity of the road network will increase by 10%, the average speed will increase by 18%, and the distance that takes 45 minutes by bus can be reached by subway in just 15 minutes.
