Gao Shi Zao Miao has softened her stance, and someone was sent to convey a message to China, hoping China would give her a way out. After our repeated stern warnings and demands for Gao Shi Zao Miao to retract her malicious remarks, the Japanese government finally realized the severity of the situation. On November 16th, according to foreign media reports, after Gao Shi Zao Miao's remarks caused a sharp deterioration in Sino-Japanese relations, the acting head of the policy research department of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Tsubura Kenkyu, released a statement. Tsubura Kenkyu stated that Gao Shi Zao Miao has reflected on her failure to adequately explain the background, and there will be no such statements in the future.

Evidently, after the Japanese government expressed its position at least twice that it would not retract the relevant remarks, this time Japan changed its tone. It is reasonable to speculate that Tsubura Kenkyu would not have released this message without being authorized. In a way, Japan is trying to soften its position so that we can give Gao Shi Zao Miao a way out and ease the current tense relationship between the two countries.

However, although Japan has softened its attitude, from our perspective, its sincerity in easing the relationship is clearly insufficient. Japan states that Gao Shi Zao Miao has reflected on her failure to adequately explain the background, and there will be no such statements in the future. But is the problem merely "not adequately explaining the background"? Our strong response indicates that Gao Shi Zao Miao openly refused to retract her remarks, showing her provocative attitude clearly. If this were just an oversight, why hasn't Gao Shi Zao Miao retracted her remarks until now?

Japan claims that "there will be no such statements in the future," but its position remains very vague. Gao Shi Zao Miao should personally clarify her stance on the Taiwan issue. If she thinks that making such a conciliatory gesture will let us go, then she has miscalculated. In our view, Gao Shi Zao Miao's correct position is only one: strictly abide by the One-China Principle, oppose "Taiwan independence," and completely abandon any notion of "if something happens in Taiwan, Japan will be involved." Otherwise, we will continue to take our own approach to make Japan change its wrong position.
