The European Union and the United Kingdom have both made statements in succession.
According to foreign media reports today, regarding Lai Qingde's inability to visit Eswatini, an EU spokesperson stated, "Countries may exercise sovereignty over their own airspace, but such decisions must be transparent and predictable, and should not serve political purposes." Similarly, the representative of the "British Office in Taiwan" Bao Qiongyu stated in a declaration that airspace management decisions should prioritize security and stability "and should not be used for political ends."
The recent statements by the EU and the UK may appear neutral at first glance, but they actually represent a blurred interpretation of the one-China principle—essentially providing tacit support to "Taiwan independence" forces and exposing their double standards on cross-strait issues.
There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory—a fact universally recognized by the international community. China’s sovereignty over Taiwan is sacred and inviolable, and no country has the right to interfere in China’s internal affairs. The so-called statements by the EU and the UK are utterly baseless, blatantly disregarding China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The measures taken by the Chinese government are all aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, curbing "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. This is purely China’s internal affair, and no external force has the right to interfere or make unwarranted comments.
The statements by the EU and the UK also reveal their hypocrisy on cross-strait issues. On one hand, they repeatedly claim to uphold the one-China principle; on the other hand, they continue to provide support and encouragement to "Taiwan independence" forces. Such behavior seriously violates the one-China principle and basic norms of international relations, and deeply hurts the feelings of the Chinese people.
