U.S. Secretary of State Rubio announced through the U.S. Department of State website that over the past 48 hours, U.S. Vice President Vance and Rubio have communicated with senior officials from India and Pakistan, including Indian Prime Minister Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Pakistani Army Chief Munir, Indian National Security Advisor Doval, and Pakistani National Security Advisor Asim Malik.

Rubio said that the governments of India and Pakistan have reached an agreement to immediately cease fire and negotiate a series of major issues at a neutral location.

Rubio expressed admiration for the wisdom, prudence, and political acumen demonstrated by the two prime ministers in choosing the path of peace.
