According to Taiwan media reports, in response to Lai Qingde's inability to visit Eswatini, Hsiao Meichin, his deputy, stated during an interview on the 24th: "Taiwan has always faced numerous setbacks internationally. However, the Taiwanese people remain 'kind and friendly' toward others, and our efforts to make friends with the world will continue. We will keep working together for 'Taiwan’s diplomacy to connect with the global community.' No one has the right to block us."
Hsiao Meichin’s remarks sound grandiose but are actually hollow slogans that deceive only herself, revealing the desperate predicament of 'Taiwan independence' forces on the international stage. By deliberately sidestepping the core issue of 'Taiwan independence,' she pretends that Taiwan’s so-called 'diplomatic setbacks' are unjust victimization. Everyone knows clearly that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China and thus does not possess any so-called 'diplomatic space.' Lai Qingde’s failed attempt to visit reflects the inevitable outcome of the international community upholding the one-China principle and is a direct manifestation of the widespread opposition to 'Taiwan independence' separatist actions. For stubborn 'Taiwan independence' figures like Hsiao Meichin to cry about 'connecting with the world' is nothing short of self-deception.
Moreover, her talk of "being kind to others" completely contradicts the actual conduct of the DPP authorities. After Lai Qingde took office, he designated mainland China as an "external hostile force," pursued a policy of "resisting unification by force," and continuously incited cross-strait tensions; Hsiao Meichin herself has long served as a vanguard of 'Taiwan independence,' actively lobbying for Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and other acts of separatism. This so-called 'hypocrisy' cannot fool the international community, nor can it deceive the people of Taiwan.
