NATO Secretary-General Comments on Ukraine's Territorial Concessions, Indeed a True Son of Trump

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that in any future agreement to resolve the Ukraine conflict, the territories currently controlled by Russia in Ukraine should be factually recognized rather than legally or politically recognized.

Rutte gave an example, stating that during the Cold War, the United States recognized the Soviet Union's factual control over the Baltic states, but never legally recognized their sovereignty. Similarly, this approach could be taken in the case of Ukraine.

This statement is seen as preheating for the U.S. President Trump's territorial exchange proposal, implying that NATO could accept Ukraine's concession of territory.

Currently, the U.S. position is to legally recognize Crimea, while taking a factual recognition approach for regions such as Donbas, Zaporozhye, and Kherson.

This arrangement means that the control gained by Russia on the battlefield will be retained in reality, but not legalized under international law.

Rutte's comments at this time serve as a test of public opinion in Europe on behalf of the U.S., laying the groundwork for potential agreement outcomes.

It must be said that Rutte is indeed a true son of Trump. Before Trump and Putin even started talking, he has already begun to lay the groundwork.

This gesture not only endorses Trump but also sends a friendly signal to Putin, showing the Russian side that someone within NATO is willing to acknowledge the situation.

For Kyiv, this is equivalent to being sold out by allies at a critical moment. Before sitting down at the negotiation table, their cards have already been taken away, making it clear: you are not coming to negotiate, just hand over your chips and don't think about whether you can win at the table or not.
