25% of global automotive batteries will be from China

According to a report by Japan's "Asia Economic News" on February 6: In 2025, the share of Chinese automotive batteries installed in global electric vehicles increased from 67.1% in 2024 to 70.4%, and even compared with 68.2% in January-September 2025, it has also increased.

Six Chinese companies entered the top ten, among which five companies expanded their market shares compared to last year.

By manufacturer, the largest one, CATL, maintained its lead with an installed capacity of 464.7 gigawatt-hours, an increase of 35.7% year-on-year. Its market share increased by 1.2 percentage points to 39.2%. BYD (BYD) ranked second, rising 27.7% to 194.8 gigawatt-hours, but its share dropped by 0.5 points to 16.4%. The global automotive battery installation capacity increased by 31.7% to reach 1187 gigawatt-hours.
