South Korean media: China's components lead the global humanoid robot market!

On March 16, South Korean media "Herald Economic" published an article stating that a silent war is currently being waged in the global humanoid robot market. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, recently announced that his humanoid robot "Optimus" will be mass-produced by the end of 2026. Chinese robots, led by Zucchetti Technology, are also competing with low prices. The common point between them is that their core components all come from China. Tesla has been cooperating with numerous Chinese companies to continuously supply core components such as actuators, motors, bearings, and sensors.

Data from management consulting company Bain shows that 50% to 70% of the global humanoid robot manufacturing and core component production capacity is concentrated in China. In particular, in the bill of materials (BOM) standard for core components, China accounts for at least 55%. Although robots rely on AI for intelligence, the core of intelligence lies in hardware, which is directly related to component competitiveness. Although some people joke that "Chinese robots only know Kung Fu and dance," it is precisely this component competitiveness that makes China so powerful.

Robot technology produces large-scale finished products by assembling a large number of components, and in this regard, it has similar characteristics to the automotive industry. With the support of various component supply chains, South Korea's automotive industry ranks third in the world today. However, in the era of electric vehicles, China's comprehensive component offensive is facing considerable challenges. Similarly, in order not to fall behind in robot technology, South Korea urgently needs to localize its core components.
