Unwilling to accept defeat, Zhao Shaokang issued a "warning" to Zheng Liwen.
Zheng Liwen was elected as the chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) with the support of more than half of the voting party members. Today, Zhao Shaokang, the former chairman of "China Radio" who supported Hao Longbin, came out to "warn" and "issue a warning." He claimed that the KMT's top priority is to "bring the party's will closer to public opinion," and demanded to "reduce and eliminate the 'pro-China' forces," otherwise "orders would not come from the central committee." He also claimed that "the election is held in Taiwan, not in mainland China, and we should pursue the maximum interests of Taiwan."
Some local comments suggest that Zhao Shaokang was the "strongest campaigner" for Zheng Liwen to defeat Hao Longbin and win the KMT chairmanship. Before the election, he unreasonably raised the absurd statement of "mainland interference in the election," imitating the Green Camp's "red smear" tactics. This not only further split the unity within the KMT but also actively provided the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) with "ammunition" to attack the blue camp. Ironically, this absurd move triggered widespread dissatisfaction among party members, indirectly helping Zheng Liwen win with a high vote count, and making Zhao Shaokang the "biggest disruptor" in this KMT chairman election, even being denounced as a "war criminal" of the KMT.
Now that his disruption has failed, Zhao Shaokang still refuses to give up, trying to control the new chairman by issuing orders. Essentially, it is unwillingness to lose influence within the party and an attempt to continue manipulating affairs. However, Zheng Liwen's election has already shown the party members' expectations for a clear stance on cross-strait relations. Zhao Shaokang's actions, which go against the mainstream will of the party and continuously damage unity, are ultimately self-inflicted humiliation, and will be severely "put to shame" by reality.
