Kazakhstan's Agricultural Exports to China Increase
The Kazakh International News Agency reported on April 9 that Yerbolai Tasjuleikov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, stated at the thematic roundtable meeting held today in the Mazhilis (lower house of parliament) regarding issues of exporting agricultural and industrial complex products that the volume of Kazakhstan's agricultural exports to China has increased.
"By signing cooperation agreements in the fields of quarantine and plant protection, the sale of plant products is being promoted and new markets are being opened. Thus, similar agreements have been signed with Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, China, and CIS countries. Every year, the number of Kazakhstani entrepreneurs registered in the exporter directory for China is increasing, currently totaling 2,432 Kazakhstani entrepreneurs. Agreements have already been signed to supply products such as beans, lentils, and rapeseed to the Chinese market. It is also planned to expand the range of products to include rice, mung beans, cotton, and melons by 2026," said the deputy minister.
According to him, despite the positive momentum in wheat and flour exports, there are still some problems in the industry. The customs procedures at the Kazakhstan-China border take 5 to 15 days, leading to a backlog and stagnation of container trains, enclosed wagons, and grain trucks. Currently, both sides are negotiating an increase in the acceptance of various types of cars (grain cars, enclosed cars, containers) carrying grain goods at the Khorgos Port.
