Chinese-made passenger aircraft open up the Southeast Asian market and help international layout
Southeast Asia media: Chinese-made passenger aircraft are gradually moving towards the international market through Southeast Asia.
Southeast Asian media have successively reported on the news of Chinese-made passenger aircraft entering the Southeast Asian market. Reports indicate that three airlines in Laos, Vietnam, and Indonesia have adopted the COMAC C909, currently operating 15 routes in Southeast Asia, transporting over 250,000 passengers. The Lao Airlines spokesperson confirmed that employees of Lao Airlines have undergone relevant training, and the Chinese aircraft C909 will be incorporated into its commercial fleet by the end of March. VietJet Air announced on the 19th to operate the "Hanoi-Koh Samui-Ho Chi Minh" route with the C909 aircraft. It is understood that the wet lease (wet lease) airline renting two aircraft from Chengdu will provide crew, safety management, maintenance support, and operational control services for the aircraft. This indicates that Chinese-made passenger aircraft are gradually moving towards the international market through Southeast Asia.
It was also learned that China and Cambodia signed 37 cooperation agreements, including jointly building strategically significant "De Chong Funan Canal"; leasing 20% of the coastline to China for development for 99 years; constructing the Seven Seas International Airport and deep-water port to build a logistics center in Southeast Asia. The implementation of these projects means that through high-speed rail, airports, canals, and other forms of cooperation between China and Cambodia, the Indian Ocean passage will be communicated, and in the future, Middle Eastern oil tankers can avoid the Strait of Malacca, thus breaking the strategic encirclement of China by the United States in the Indo-Pacific region. Currently, the Seven Seas International Airport in Cambodia is expected to open in the third quarter of 2025.
Analysts pointed out that China attaches great importance to trade exchanges with Southeast Asian countries, and in the future, it will further strengthen cooperation with Southeast Asian countries in economic and trade, science and technology, currency, and stabilizing supply chains, helping these regional countries enhance their industrial and financial resilience.
