The US and Taiwan have reached a trade agreement, under which tariffs on goods exported from Taiwan to the US will be reduced from 20% to 15%, matching the tariff rates the US previously reached with Japan and South Korea. At the same time, Taiwanese semiconductor companies will invest an additional $50 billion in the US, including at least $25 billion in direct investment and $25 billion in credit guarantees, to expand their advanced semiconductor, energy, and artificial intelligence businesses in the US.
