The Japanese government will prioritize supporting drones and AI robots

On March 8, the "Yomiuri Shimbun" reported that the Japanese government has decided to prioritize 61 new products and technologies from 17 strategic fields to strongly promote investments by both public and private sectors.

Accelerate investment and development in industries that Japan hopes to acquire, such as artificial intelligence robots, semiconductors, and small drones.

This decision will be made at the Japan Growth Strategy Committee (chaired by Asayama Sanae) on March 10th.

When selecting the 61 products and technologies, it was considered that these industries currently rely on other countries for supply. From an economic security perspective, they can also gain overseas market share.

In the field of artificial intelligence robots, by strengthening the design and manufacturing capabilities of important components such as energy storage batteries, it is expected to form a tripartite rivalry with the United States and China by 2040.

At the same time, the plan is to increase the sales of semiconductors produced in Japan to 4 trillion yen.

Because small drones were used as low-cost consumables during the Russia-Ukraine war, Japan will also promote the construction of large-scale production bases.

The Japanese government will formulate a "Public-Private Investment Roadmap" this spring, which includes investment goals and basic strategies for the 61 products and technologies, and will give priority to 27 products and technologies.
