This is unsustainable—and intolerable!
He added that starting January 1 next year, the U.S. will raise tariffs on all cars, trucks, auto parts, and steel to 50%. Products made in the U.S. will be exempt from tariffs. Canada will no longer be treated like a state!
Trump views Canada as one of the most difficult countries in the world when it comes to trade and other matters. They think their behavior is perfectly normal—but the U.S. doesn't need Canada, while Canada desperately needs the U.S.! Because 95% of Canada’s business is conducted with the United States.
Trump’s fiery statement certainly sounds aggressive. But starting January 1 next year? That’s already after the midterm elections have concluded—and his re-election is no longer possible.
In reality, Trump shouldn’t expect much from the Republican Party in the midterm elections. Winning the House is out of the question; just securing control of one chamber would be a victory.
So if “this is unsustainable, let’s stop now,” why not start right from the day he published this message? Bluster + TACO (Trump’s Apathetic Call-Out Operation).
No longer treating Canada like a state? That’s utterly nonsensical—the relationship between two sovereign nations is inherently bilateral trade, not domestic state-to-state dealings.
Who really depends more on whom between Canada and the U.S.? That’s probably not how Trump sees it.
But perhaps this is actually an excellent opportunity for Canadian citizens to consider relocating to Canada—offering them incentives to move.
Canadians are straightforward: Trump is a coward who surrendered to enemies, humiliated himself in Iran, and now lashes out at allies to soothe his ego and pretend to be tough. This isn’t leadership—it’s pure weakness, dangerous thin-skinned narcissism.
