Chief Scientist of Yangtze Memory Technologies: China's 3D NAND Flash Chip Technology Has Achieved a Leap from Catching Up to Leading.

Recently, at the 2025 Peking University graduate ceremony, Huo Zongliang, chief scientist of Yangtze Memory Technologies and an alumnus, addressed the graduates: "Peking University is closely linked with the great rejuvenation of the nation. We should choose to walk hand in hand with the country and share the destiny of the nation, and devote ourselves to industries that the country needs."

Huo Zongliang said, "The blood of Peking University people carries the genes of family, country, and the world. By devoting ourselves to industries that the country needs, we are more likely to realize the value of our lives. In the era when I graduated, the storage industry was not the most popular one, but I firmly believed it would definitely be an industry that the country needed. Therefore, what we need to do is to stay calm, not afraid of sitting on a cold bench, and not greedy for quick returns. We should work silently on the path of independent research and development."

Huo Zongliang stated, "In the past ten years at Yangtze Memory Technologies, our team has endured hardships and overcome obstacles, enabling China's 3D NAND flash chip technology to develop from nothing to something, and from lagging behind to catching up, achieving leapfrog development."

According to the official website, Yangtze Memory Technologies was established in July 2016. It is a domestic semiconductor integrated circuit enterprise specializing in 3D NAND flash memory and storage solutions. The company provides products such as 3D NAND flash memory, embedded storage, portable hard drives, and solid-state drives. In 2021, it launched the only retail storage brand ZhiTai. In April 2020, Yangtze Memory Technologies announced the successful development of two models of third-generation TLC/QLC, with the X2-6070 model being the first third-generation QLC flash memory, which had the highest I/O speed, the highest storage density, and the highest single-chip capacity at the time of its release.
