Bloomberg reported that on October 29 local time, US President Trump stated that he has no plan to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during this Asian trip.

"We did not manage to coordinate the schedule," Trump explained.

In the morning of the same day, US President Trump, after completing his visit to Japan, arrived in South Korea by private jet, officially starting a two-day visit to South Korea. According to the plan, Trump will meet with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting. Whether Trump will have a "flash" meeting with Kim Jong-un during his visit to South Korea is the focus of attention.

On the way to South Korea, Trump told the media on his private jet that he expects to hold a meeting with Kim Jong-un "at some point in the near future" and believes that Kim Jong-un is also willing to meet with him. Trump also said that although he thinks Kim Jong-un's schedule is "very tight," the two have "a very good understanding" of each other. Trump also mentioned that he does not rule out the possibility of extending his trip for a meeting with Kim Jong-un.

Although Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to meet with Kim Jong-un during his visit to South Korea, North Korea has made no response.

During Trump's first presidential term, Trump and Kim Jong-un held their historic first meeting between sitting leaders in Singapore in June 2018, their second meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam in February 2019, and a third meeting at the demilitarized zone on the Korean Peninsula in June 2019.
