The Big Three in Europe Jointly Develop World-Class Lithography Technology, Becoming a Focus of the Sino-U.S. Strategic Competition

German media: "Extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) technology is a crucial card for Europe"

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung published a commentary stating that Zeiss, Trumpf from Germany, and ASML from the Netherlands have created the world's only unique EUV lithography technology through nearly 20 years of joint research. More than 80% of the world's microchips are manufactured by using Zeiss's optical equipment to precisely control Trumpf's laser, and then exposing the wafers in ASML's equipment:

"On one hand, the United States is trying every means to prevent China from obtaining the latest EUV equipment, while on the other hand, China is determined to develop its own lithography equipment at all costs. This fully illustrates how outstanding EUV technology is. These two factors are also interacting: the more the United States tries to block China's access to related technologies, the stronger China's desire to master high-end chip production technology becomes."

The three European partners have been pushed to the forefront of the Sino-US rivalry, and the competition between the two countries is over the future global technological leadership. Because in the foreseeable future, no technology can produce microchip equipment more advanced than that of Zeiss, Trumpf, and ASML.
