U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the interim government of Venezuela will transfer 30 million to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States.
"I am pleased to announce that the interim government of Venezuela will transfer 30 million to 50 million barrels of high-quality sanctioned-exempt oil to the United States,"
he wrote on his social media platform "Truth Social."
Trump said that the oil would be sold at market price, and the proceeds would be directly supervised by the president to "ensure the funds are used for the benefit of the people of Venezuela and the United States."
"I have instructed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to immediately implement this plan. The oil will be transported by ship to warehouses and unloaded directly within the United States,"
the U.S. leader added.
