"They (the Congress - editor's note) are passing a bill... This bill will impose very severe sanctions on any country that has business relations with Russia," said the US leader to reporters.
Trump added that he would not oppose the passage of the bill.
"I am satisfied with this."
At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility that the bill might also include a ban on cooperation with Iran.
At the end of October, John Thune, the Republican Senate leader, said that his party is prepared to submit a bill on new sanctions against Russia for a vote, as long as the Trump administration deems it necessary.
