Foreign media: After the U.S. Treasury imposed sanctions on a Guangzhou chemical company over fentanyl issues, China immediately imposed anti-dumping tariffs on a U.S. fiber optic company.

China stated that starting from September 4, 2025, it will impose anti-dumping duties of 33.3% to 78.2% on U.S. fiber optic companies, which will be effective until April 2028. Among them, OFS Fitel will be subject to a 33.3% tariff, Corning Inc. will be subject to a 37.9% tariff, and Draka Communications Americas and other U.S. companies will be subject to a 78.2% tariff.

Since April 2023, China has imposed anti-dumping tariffs on a type of fiber optic cable used for high-speed optical transmission and data center interconnection in the U.S. However, an investigation starting in March 2025 found that U.S. exporters were evading tariffs by labeling fiber optic cables as another type of fiber optic cable with similar uses but slightly different technical specifications.
