【Key Focus: Zarakhova's "lengthy" comments on Israel's repeated threats to attack Iran】

On December 30, 2025, Moscow time, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote in a statement published on the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (uncensored version):

On December 29, during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States, his intense remarks about possibly launching a new military strike against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including its nuclear energy infrastructure, triggered reasonable concerns.

Such statements containing anti-Iran ideological accusations are not new. At the same time, the international community has repeatedly and clearly rejected these demands, which contradict international law, violate the UN Charter, and continue to push the Middle East into serious disasters, potentially leading to radioactive and humanitarian consequences.

It is especially unacceptable to use military force to compel the world to accept the possibility of resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through military means, including bombing nuclear facilities under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency. This irresponsible policy has had a catastrophic impact on the global non-proliferation system, which is based on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). In this context, it should be noted that such threats include those from countries not party to the treaty, targeting a country that is a party to the NPT and regularly reaffirms its compliance with its requirements.

We call on these impulsive individuals to recognize the harmfulness of their destructive path, abandon the escalation of tensions surrounding Iran and its nuclear program, and avoid repeating the fatal mistakes of June 2025, which severely weakened the IAEA's verification activities in Iran. Experience shows that confrontation only leads to tragedy and creates real rather than fictitious threats to international peace and security, keeping the relevant parties further away from achieving the desired solutions.

We still believe that the only correct choice is to develop a long-term, sustainable peaceful nuclear solution for Iran through diplomacy and negotiations, based on international law and fully respecting Tehran's legitimate interests.
