On April 25th, "Hao Wangjiao Science Salon", initiated by Zhongke Star and co-hosted by Dongbi Technology Data and Shanghai R&D Public Service Platform Management Center, was held in Shanghai. The theme of this salon is "Nuclear Energy Twin Propeller: Synergistic Innovation of Fission and Fusion".

During the event, Academician Li Jiangang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice President of the Chinese Physical Society, and Chief Commander of the National Major Scientific Project "Integrated Research Facility for Key Systems of Fusion Reactor Host" stated: "The ultimate energy structure for mankind will be a small portion of renewable energy and a larger portion of fusion energy."

In Li Jiangang's view, nuclear fusion power generation has three major advantages: infinite fuel, zero carbon emissions, and inherent safety. The fuel deuterium for fusion reactions is derived from seawater, with reaction products being only helium and neutrons, and there is no risk of core meltdown, allowing the reaction to be terminated at any time. Therefore, fusion power generation can effectively achieve energy peak regulation and ensure energy security.

Currently, Hefei is constructing the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST). Based on the fully superconducting tokamak device EAST, the BEST device will demonstrate fusion energy power generation for the first time and lead research on burning plasma physics. Li Jiangang stated during the event: "We expect to complete the construction of the BEST device in 2027, and you will see 'the first light of nuclear fusion' no later than 2030."
