Chinese citizens arrested by Japanese police for purchasing stolen goods from Vietnamese thieves
September 18, "Fukui Television" report: On September 18, the Fukui Prefectural Police conducted a surprise raid on a scrap metal recycling company in Sakai City and arrested two Chinese nationals.
The police arrested Yu Qiusong (36 years old, transliterated), manager of Matsuo Sangyo Co., Ltd., and Wang Lien (31 years old, transliterated), an employee, on suspicion of purchasing stolen goods. This case began with a theft case involving Vietnamese people.
From July 2023 to March 2025, two Vietnamese men in their 30s were arrested. Their gang illegally entered demolition sites in Fukui Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Toyama Prefecture, and repeatedly stole copper wires and brass.
The Chinese suspect purchased 163 kilograms of brass delivered by the Vietnamese, and was aware that it was stolen property.
According to the investigation, the Chinese suspect has acquired more than 20 million yen (approximately 950,000 RMB) worth of stolen metal from two Vietnamese individuals over 100 times.
The police believe that the suspect has become accustomed to purchasing stolen goods.
