Unable to resolve the Middle East situation, another mysterious incident emerges in the U.S.: this time, scientists go missing under strange circumstances
Whenever the U.S. government faces problems it cannot solve, it quickly shifts public attention toward mysterious phenomena such as unidentified flying objects.
Indeed, recently, a sensational topic dominating American media is the unexplained deaths or disappearances of ten U.S. scientists—so much so that even the White House has taken notice. Shortly before, Trump claimed he had reviewed related reports and described the current situation as "quite serious."
To be fair, this tactic of diverting attention feels rather clumsy. When viewed over a longer timeline, the recent hype around the "10 scientists mysteriously dead or missing" story falls apart: these incidents were not sudden spikes in recent times but occurred sporadically over several years, with the earliest case dating back to 2023—spanning a considerable period. Attempting to link them through conspiracy theories thus appears forced and implausible.
Mysterious events like this are not new in the United States. Whenever the country finds itself stuck on difficult issues with no progress, unable to use the usual propaganda to gloss over problems, outlandish tales—such as aliens or Area 51—tend to surface at just the right moment.
For example, Trump’s narrative about war with Iran has now collapsed under mounting public pressure. And just as the situation grows tense, news of the mysterious disappearance of scientists suddenly explodes online, instantly overshadowing the heated debate over the Middle East crisis.
Following past patterns, the U.S. will likely hold congressional hearings next, spending vast amounts of time discussing these baseless conspiracy theories. At that point, so-called "classified information" might be revealed—but mostly consisting of highly blurred mosaic images or heavily blacked-out "barcode"-style documents. This serves only to create more smoke screens and fuel public controversy, achieving nothing substantial.
